Beautiful subways from around the world

Subways need not be boring or dreary! Many operators of metros, subways or underground railways want to attract more passengers with good station design. This often means extra effort and higher costs for the metro operators but it seems to pay when a metro is more than just a means of transport but something the residents can be proud of.

世界中の美しい地下鉄を紹介しているブログです。
歴史を感じさせる駅から近代的な駅まで、旧共産圏の国も含めて（東京の地下鉄も紹介されていました。写真は入り口だけですけど・・・）紹介されています。

写真だと汚れている所等が見えないからかもしれませんが、近代的な駅より歴史を感じさせる駅の方が良いように思いました。
旧共産圏の駅はやっぱり質素です。

Berlin

Some of the early underground and elevated stations represent a style of metro architecture which was somewhat pioneering back then. The busiest architect of that time was Alfred Grenander, who evolved from a decorative style to modernism between 1902 and 1930

かぼちゃパイとパンプキン・アス

Happy Halloween

かぼちゃパイも悪くありません。

パンプキン・パイと言うと、さだまさしの「パンプキン・パイとシナモン・ティー」を思い出します。
この曲を京都の喫茶店で聴きながら・・・
止めておきます。

さだまさしの曲が特別に好きな訳ではないんですが、「パンプキン・パイとシナモン・ティー」は心に残っています。

私には、まだ、かぼちゃパイの味は分かりませんが、写真の様なかぼちゃパイは大好きです。

カバ車

カバ車故郷へ　会社の所在地・岡山に向け出発式

　戦後の復興期に、菓子メーカー「カバヤ食品」（岡山市）の宣伝カーとして日本全国をめぐった「カバ車」の復刻車両がこのほど尼崎市内で完成し、四日、“故郷”の岡山に向け出発した。市役所で行われた式典には二百人以上が参加し、拍手でカバ車を見送った。

　復刻車両は国産乗用車をベースにしており、赤いボディー、フロントガラスの上に回転する目と耳などがついた愛らしいデザイン。尼崎工業、尼崎産業の両市立高校の生徒らを中心に、五カ月かけて完成させた。

カバ車は 1952年から7年間、カバヤ食品の宣伝カーとして活躍したそうですが、当然の事ながら、私は知りません。
でも、可愛いです。

所で、カバヤ食品って、名前は知ってるんですが、どんなお菓子を販売してました？

Rolling Bridge

Heatherwick studio - Rolling Bridge

Heatherwick Studio's Rolling Bridge is located within a new residential, office and retail quarter set around part of the Grand Union Canal.

Rather than a conventional opening bridge mechanism, consisting of a single rigid element that lifts to let boats pass, the Rolling Bridge gets out of the way by curling up until its two ends touch. While in its horizontal position, the bridge is a normal, inconspicuous steel and timber footbridge; fully open, it forms a circle on one bank of the water that bears little resemblance to its former self.

最初に上の写真を見た時は、人が中に入って転がって川を渡るのかと思ったんですけど、普通にフラットな橋の状態から、下の写真の様に持ち上がり、上の写真の状態に成るようです。

私としては、転がった方がローリングだと思うんですけど・・・
