Hundreds turn up to see mummified mermaid

The mermaid’s owner, Safuan Abu Bakar, is adamant that the exhibit is real.

He told The Star that he and a group of bomoh (mediums) took months to locate the mermaid “in a secret location in a neighbouring country.”

“After locating it, we performed special prayers, including throwing yellow rice into the sea, to entice the creature out,” he said.

The mermaid died when it surfaced.

人魚の所有者 Safuan Abu Bakar さんは人魚は本物だと頑なに主張している。

彼は The Star に彼と彼のグループは数ヶ月掛けて、近隣の国の秘密の場所を突き止め、その後、イエロー・ライス（何なんでしょう？　古くなって黄色くなった古米でしょうか？）を海に投げ入れる事を含め、特別な祈祷を行い、人魚を誘いだしたそうです。
別のソースには誘い出す為にマンドラム（ハリーポッターか何かで聞いた様な気がする・・・）も使ったと有りました。

そして、表面に出てきた時に人魚は死んでしまったそうです。
（うっ、可哀想なお話です・・・ ）

展示は Shah Alam の Sultan Alam Shah 博物館で昨日から開催され、１０月４日までだそうです。 数百人が訪れ、大反響でもっと大きな展示場を探しているそうです。

日本にも、江戸時代にはこういう人魚を作る職人さんがいたそうですが、外国ではまだ職人の技が残っている所があるんですね。
